Indigo Industries is a new dive equipment company making a big splash here at DEMA 2016. First up is their new DPV Nautilus personal thruster which gives any diver an underwater jetpack.
Unlike a scooter which is expensive and has to be handheld, the Nautilus is a remote controlled thruster that straps right onto your dive tank. You read that right, with the Nautilus DPV you can get either forward or reverse motion with the simple handheld remote.
Indigo Industries is making the Nautilus in two models, the Nautilus XP and the Nautilus GLH. The Nautilus XP has one thruster, and will give divers the boosting power of your own fin kicks. Combined with your underwater kicking you can cover even more distance, with less effort, and it is launching with a price of $1299.
Meanwhile the Nautilus GLH has two boosters, and it has roughly double the power of the Nautilus XP. This model will retail for around $2000, and again, both devices are strapped to your dive tank, and offer both forward and backward motion. This is very competitive with full sized scooters and we would rent one of these in a heartbeat if they were offered by dive outfits.
Each of Indigo Industries new personal dive thrusters are good for about a full dive, so around an hour or less. Replacable batteries means you don’t have to wait to recharge between dives, but an included power supply will top off the hefty batteries in about three hours. This is one of the most exciting products we’ve spotted at DEMA so far, and we can’t wait to try one out for ourselves. [Indigo Industries]
