Successful Women’s Introduction to Scuba Diving in Quimperlé

In celebration of International Women’s Rights Day, the Kemperle Underwater Activities Club (KAS) organized a special scuba diving initiation session on Saturday, March 8. The event aimed to introduce women to the underwater world in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Five certified instructors from the club—Pascale Martin-Bourhis, Emmanuelle Dufossé, Anne Caufriez, Stéphanie Bahri, and Isabelle Le Corre—led the session, assisted by seven volunteers. Together, they guided around twenty participants through their first diving experience at the Aquapaq swimming pool.

The session provided an opportunity for the participants to familiarize themselves with diving equipment, breathing techniques, and basic underwater movements. With personalized guidance from experienced divers, the women were able to overcome initial apprehensions and experience the unique sensation of breathing underwater.

This initiative was designed not only to offer a first taste of scuba diving but also to encourage more women to explore the sport. The event organizers emphasized the importance of inclusivity in underwater activities, aiming to break down barriers that might discourage women from participating.

The positive feedback from participants highlighted the success of the initiative. Many expressed a desire to continue exploring scuba diving, inspired by the supportive atmosphere and expert guidance they received. The KAS club hopes that this event will inspire more women to take up diving and join the local underwater sports community.
